Fishing from the coasts of Messina: an experience full of variety
Fishing from shore along the coasts of Messina offers a wide variety of options. It is possible to capture, for example, specimens of considerable size or large lancets. This area is characterized by seabeds that are never completely free of rock. In addition to classic bottom fishing from the beach, many fishermen alternate techniques such as Bolognese, English and bombard fishing.
By using a mixed technique between English and feeder, you can attract large specimens of garfish, boghe and bream. Bream, fish sensitive to baiting, are also abundant. Here it is possible to bait directly from the sandy banks with flour and catch unusual species such as parrotfish and scallop fish.
Moving to the Ionian side of the city of Messina, we find well-oxygenated waters with consistent currents. Even with an apparently calm sea, it may be necessary to resort to pyramids to deal with the currents. Using sandbanks, catches of murmurs will be common, but there will be no shortage of scazzulpoli.
You can fish for scazzupcoli, sea bream and bream using American worms. During the colder periods, sea bream are preferably caught with shrimp or worms as bait. The use of light attractors, such as pearls and beads, can also increase the chances of capture.
This itinerary focuses mainly on bottom fishing from the beaches, but by using more traditional or less orthodox techniques, it is possible to achieve incredible results even with float techniques.
